Meet The Artist
Bruce Gilchrist’s love of wood started in 1962 at the tender age of 12. He used his innate sense of craftsmanship to build a desktop bookcase that he still cherishes to this day.
Over the years he attended many wood shows and enjoyed crafting small gifts for his family and friends. The shows inspired him to design some of his own works for entry. He bought some plans and as he put them into action his love for his art blossomed.
He spent the following 10 years perfecting his skills before making the decision to leave the traditional ways of his wood crafting behind. Instead he choose to focus on creating his own work from his own plans using his personal techniques. The result is the fine work that you see on this site and in homes and offices across the country.
Bruce’s life like images are the result of decades of dedication to his medium. The real life essence imbued in each piece speaks of Bruce’s mastery of his craft.
Bruce can usually be found working tirelessly from his shop in Renfrew Ontario. The peices crafted here that are not for buyers are on display at the Tay River Gallery
Bruce is currently accepting orders for the upcoming Christmas season.
